Help! What is a wiki?!

• A web thing for the collaborative writing of web pages.
• Every visitor is allowed to change almost everything.
• Sounds anarchic?
• It works. And it works quite well.
• Under RecentChanges you can access recent changes and page history.

There are a some differences to normal websites or forums:

• Wiki markup is not HTML. It is much easier. Therefore some things are missing to keep things simple.
• Activity in a wiki varies. Some times there are dozens of changes or new pages. Some times no one writes stuff.
