ORDO SOLIS

Our group is named Ordo Solis: “the Order of the Sun”.

To understand the Ordo Solis is necessary to go outside common definitions.

A good starting point is the Ordo Solis Manifesto and the philosophical part of the Rule.

History

We were born in Italy in 1997 (winter Solstice) as a live action role-play (LARP) group with a mystical core.

We immediately push the birth of LARP in Sicily organizing the ''the Spring Festival'' (that still exist), but we also start to journey across Europe to learn more about this new powerful Media.

In 1998 we show up for the first time in an international event: the Gathering.

There we met other players that dream about a European LARP Federation.

In 1999 we push the foundation of a national italian LARP association with a main event called “Adunanza” (i.e. Gathering) following the british example, and trying to link the italian LARP with the UK LARP.

For the first time the Italians start to play a national campaign, and in the August of 1999 they take the field toghether at the Gathering (in UK) against the Orc’s faction: the Vipers.

However after that the italians show little interest in play a national campaign, and split as usual in several regional associations, while the british people of the Lorien Trust show no interest at all to the european LARP.

Under these circumstances (Gathering 2000) we decide to leave the UK and join our german friends (e.g. Vinland)at the Drachenfest I (2001) bringing with us several italians

After that the Drachenfest decide to happen every 2 years (2002) we search for others european alternative, in 2003 we explore the belgian main event: Avatar, and the new upcoming german event: New Order.

Actually we have more than 30 members divided in five chapters: *Teutonia (Germany) *Treon (Sicily) *Barium (Puglia) *Nalim (Milan) *Belgica (Brussel)

Our main goal is to form together with other players the European LARP Federation(ELF), a ring of people that enjoy to play in an international environment, and share their experiences and visions about the game. We like to call it the democratic LarpRevolution.

LARP AS A PATH

The fantasy LARP in our opinion represent a powerful media capable of revive ancient myths and archetype…

During “the game” we play the role of Paladins (like Templars), we take names of plant or animals, we fight together, celebrate together, works together, play rituals together…

Among the fantasy culture our goal is to recreate a “Mediterranean” fantasy rooted into the Greek mythology, the Qabalah, and others forms of “southern” esoteric heritage.

We use the game as an instrument of teaching/learning about stay and work together, develop self consciousness and spirituality
