New Order

Born from a part of Drachenfest Organisation, in 2002 it did get some 1500 players. On 2003 without the Drachenfest about 3000.

After 2003 the organization split again and a part (DüsterbrooksErben) plans a new event in 2004. TwilighT, the remainder of the former Organization announced plans to stage another NO in 2005.

Its strength resides in the special effects (see their home page or the video). The use of the most advanced technologies is nearly to the point that the player could tell “if you did also give me pop-corn, I would have felt like watching a movie”. During the 2002 event, the musical group “in Extremo” sang (medieval rock band known in center Europe).

The concept of New Order is to make the show: players are spectators. The organisation is the only group of professionists (they are living with it).

The organisation has however no international concept or experience.

Organizer TwilighT needs to modify some of the key issues apparent in NO03 and (I hear) in many of the previous TwilighT events, if they are to conform to the ideals stated in LarpRevolution.

1. They seem to have a lot of plot railroading and top-down plot development.
2. they have (or used to have) a high propensity for show elements and passive entertainment.
3. They used deus-ex-machina intervention through invincible NPCs.

PRO:

• third european event (terms of numbers)
• professional organisation
• incredible special effects.

CONTRA:

• a lot of show non-interactive, only in German
• no “international concept”.
