From the beginning Dragonbane claim to be the perfect fantasy LARP. The dragonbane’s organization team is international but mainly Scandinavian (Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Estonia, Russia, Italy, France). The aim of this event is to cross some of the tipical limits of fantasy LARP:
To solve these topics they decide to go in an top-down direction improving the organization and production elements, raising up 1 million euro funds from sponsors, organizations and of course players. The work is volountarily based and all the funds will be reinvested in the event: They will build from 0 an entire viking-like settlement, a realistic dragon…
Dragonbane will be a one-shot event, detatched from other campaigns, with a relatively small close number of participants: 1055. The event will take place on autumn 2005 in Southern Estonia, in the Soomaa National Park, about 150 km from its capital, Tallinn..
The game in the Dogma 99 style will come only from the characters interactions. The LARP style will be the “Nordic”: total immersion of the player in a defined character. Dragonbane is set in the world of Valenor in a remote location not explored in the book Myrskyn Aika (the Finnish title of the book upon which Dragonbane is based: ‘The Age of Storm’) from the author Mike Phojola. All the characters interactions will happens IT in Cinderhill, the little village where the dragon sleeps. The character will be created in dedicated workshops before the event together with the authors of the background.
The choice will be limited to specific roles:
*The Dragon [ mechanical not avaliable :-) ]
*Villagers (420) Children of the Dragon in Cinderhill: hunters and fishers, farmers, artisans, cattlers, old people, sacred virgins, Dragon Temple’s priests/acolytes/neophytes.
