Are these terms used outside of Germany? I always assumed that they are pseudo-english german terms. AFAIK the international terms are “in/out of play” or “in/out of character”.

I don’t know - but in that case people from other countries should add their local versions. That I as a player from Germany can only speak from my own viewpoint is obvious.
